Handleyomys intectus (Thomas 1921)

Type Locality: Colombia, Antioquia Dept., 8 km E Medellín, Santa Elena, 9000 ft (2743 m).

Vernacular Names: White-footed Handley's Mouse.

Distribution: Cordillera Central, 1500-2800 m, C Colombia.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Oryzomys intectus .

Discussion: A species whose distinctive traits have confusingly invoked its past association with Oryzomys balneator or Melanomys (Gyldenstolpe, 1932), Nectomys (Ellerman, 1941), or the subgenus Oryzomys (Cabrera, 1961) . Reallocated to Handleyomys and compared with H. fuscatus by Voss et al. (2002).
