Type Locality: México, Nayarit, San Blas.

Vernacular Names: Sinaloan Deermouse.

Distribution: Coastal plain and lower river valleys, sea level- 200 m, from WC Sinaloa through W Nayarit, México.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: P. boylii species group. Previously classified as a geographic race of P. boylii (Hall, 1981; Osgood, 1909); elevated to species by Carleton (1977). Nongeographic and geographic variation evaluated by Schmidly and Bradley (1995), who provided new distributional records. Status and interspecific relationships within the boylii group addressed by Carleton et al. (1982), Bradley and Schmidly (1987), Sullivan et al. (1991), and Tiemann-Boege et al. (2000).
