Ichthyomys hydrobates (Winge 1891)

Type Locality: Venezuela, Mérida State, Sierra de Mérida. The holotype may have originated from the vicinity of Mérida, 1600-1700 m (Voss, 1988).
Vernacular Names: Silver-bellied Ichthyomyine.
Synonyms: Ichthyomys nicefori Thomas 1924; Ichthyomys soderstromi Tate 1931 .
Distribution: Andes of W Venezuela, Colombia, and N Ecuador.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Taxonomy and distribution reviewed by Voss (1988), who retained nicefori and soderstromi as subspecies.
