Type Locality: México, Nayarit, Valle de Banderas.

Vernacular Names: Osgood's Deermouse.

Synonyms: Osgoodomys vicinior Osgood 1904 .

Distribution: Coastal plain of S Nayarit to S Guerrero, interior of Michoacán and Guerrero along the basin of the Río Balsas, México.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: The forms angelensis, coatlanensis, and sloeops had been mistaken as subspecies of O. banderanus and were reassigned to Peromyscus mexicanus by Musser (1969).
