Nesoryzomys fernandinae Hutterer and Hirsch 1979, Bonn. Zool. Beitr., Vol. 30: 278.

Type Locality: Ecuador, Galápagos Archipelago, Fernandina Isl.

Vernacular Names: Fernandina Nesoryzomys.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Name based on material recovered from fresh owl pellets; morphological recognition expanded by Dowler and Carroll (1996) and Dowler et al. (2000) based on recently collected specimens from rediscovered population and compared with sympatric examples of N. indefessus narboroughi . Believed closely related to N. darwini (see Hutterer and Hirsch, 1979).
