Microtus (Alexandromys) evoronensis Kovalskaya and Sokolov 1980, Zool. Zh., 59: 1410.
Type Locality: Russia, Khabarovsk Krai, Lake Evoron (= Zvoron) basin, Devyatka River.
Vernacular Names: Evoron Vole.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality (Meyer et al., 1996).
Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered.
Discussion: Subgenus Alexandromys, maximowiczii species group (Pavlinov and Rossolimo, 1998; Pavlinov et al., 1995 a; Zagorodnyuk, 1990). Placed in subgenus Microtus by Pavlinov and Rossolimo (1987) and Meyer et al. (1996). Considered closely related to M. mujanensis and M. maximowiczii (Meyer, 1983); close kinship to M. mujanensis sustained by molar variation within the M. maximowiczii species group (Pozdnyakov, 1993) and by data accumulated from morphological, karyological, and hybridization studies (Meyer et al., 1996).
