Spinirta aviforma sp. nov. (ḢḦẊĦ)

Type material. Holotype: ♂, CHINA: Chongqing Municipality, Jinyun Mountain, Banzigou (pitfall traps) (29°47.225′N, 106°20.012′E), 518 m a.s.l., 5 October 2010, leg. Haijun Liu.

Etymology. The specific name is from the Latin words avem, meaning “bird”, and formis, meaning “shaped”, referring to the embolus that is shaped like a bird’s head.

Diagnosis. The male resembles S. jinyunshanensis sp. nov.; for detailed diagnosis see above. Female unknown.

Description. Male (Figs 3E, 16–17). Holotype: body 9.06 long; carapace 4.46 long, 3.36 wide, width: length = 0.75; abdomen 4.60 long, 3.01 wide. Diameters of eyes: AME 0.28, ALE 0.26, PME 0.26, PLE 0.27. Eye interdistances: AME–AME 0.15, AME–ALE 0.07, ALE–ALE 0.85, PME–PME 0.26, PME–PLE 0.31, PLE–PLE 1.30, ALE–PLE 0.09. OAW 1.58, CRW 2.15, OAW/CRW = 0.73. MOA 0.56 long, front width 0.70, back width 0.74. Clypeus height 0.30, 1.07 times AME diameter. Chelicerae with three promarginal and five retromarginal teeth. Labium 0.70 long, 0.66 wide. Sternum 2.00 long, 1.85 wide. Measurements of legs: leg I 11.94 (3.33 + 1.55 + 2.74 + 2.68 + 1.64), II 11.39 (3.23 + 1.49 + 2.51 + 2.57 + 1.59), III 9.51 (2.73 + 1.28 + 1.98 + 2.29 + 1.23), IV 13.04 (3.58 + 1.50 + 2.91 + 3.62 + 1.43).

Palp as illustrated (Figs 3E, 16 E–I, 17). Tibial ventral protrusion as an apophysis, triangular. RTA outer edge oval; ventral surface with dense thick relatively long scimitar-like spines. PTA triangular. Tegulum retrolateral apex triangular. Subtegulum with several staggered grooves on prolateral surface. Embolus shaped like bird’s head, longer than embolar apophysis, with digitiform, blunt tip; embolar apophysis short, flaky and truncated at tip, with file-like grooves on prolateral surface.
