Calyxochaetus frontalis species group
Diagnosis. The C. frontalis species group is defined by males having fore tarsomere 1 very short (Figs 116–119) and mid tarsomere 2 with apex widened and pointed anteroapically (Figs 120–131). Mid tarsomeres 3–4 are short and sometimes modified in shape. Males often have the hind tibia with specialized ventral seta(e) near base (Figs 132–136). Scutellum usually with distinct blue-violet reflections.
Remarks. Most species occurring in Mexico and Central America are in this group.
