Synopsis of Melochia L. Distributed from Mexico to the Antilles, northeast and southeast Brazil . Goldberg (1967) reported this species from Brazil , based on five collections located in foreign herbaria, four of them collected in Ceará , and one from Rio de Janeiro . None of the five cited specimens were able to be analyzed at this time. Despite fieldwork efforts, M. nodiflora was not found even in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro , the locality indicated by Goldberg (1967) .
