Positive for glucose fermentation, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis and cytochrome oxidase; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, arginine dihydrolase, urease and β-galactosidase. D-Glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid are not utilized as sole carbon sources.
