Taxonomy. Uropsilus aequodonenia Liu Yang et al., 2013 ,
Luoji Shan Scenic Area, Puge County, south-western Sichuan, China.
Molecular data suggest a sister relationship with U. andersoni View in CoL from which U. aequodonenia is distinct in morphology and distribution. Monotypic.
Distribution. SC China (SW Sichuan), restricted to a small area surrounded by Dadu,Jinsha, and Yalu rivers. View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body 72-82 mm, tail 67-73 mm, hindfoot 14-16 mm; weight 11 g. Body of the Equivalent Teeth Shrew Mole is similar to that of other species of Uropsilus but slightly larger in size. Dorsal hair tips are brown; venter is gray. Tail is bicolored; upper part is deep brown; and underside is paler. Rostrum is tapered; braincase is rounded. Dental formulais12/2,C1/1,P 3/3, M 3/3 (x2) = 36, which differentiates the Equivalent Teeth Shrew Mole from other species of Uropsilus .
Habitat. Coniferous and deciduous broadleaf forests and willow ( Salix , Salicaceae ) shrub at elevations of 2430-3100 m. The Equivalent Teeth Shrew Mole co-occurs with the Moupin Pika (Ochotona thibetana), the Southwest China Red-backed Vole (Eothenomys custos), Pere David's Red-backed Vole (E. melanogaster), the Sichuan Red-backed Vole (E. chinensis), the Sichuan White-bellied Rat (Niviventer excelsior), the Confucian White-bellied Rat (N. confucianus), the South China Field Mouse (Apodemus draco), and the Lesser Striped Shrew ( Sorex bedfordiae).
