Diagnosis. This species is externally similar to U. patulalis , but its brown bands along the terminal margin of both wings are broader and the orbicular stigma on hindwing is smaller than U. patulalis . It also can be distinguished by its slightly narrowed valva, and the cornutus a bunch of minute spines; ductus bursae weakly sclerotized near the antrum. In U. patulalis , the valva is relatively broader, cornutus is composed of a bunch of thick spines; and in the female genitalia the ductus bursae is crooked and strongly sclerotized near antrum.

Description. Adult ( Figs 1B View FIGURE 1 , 3E View FIGURE 3 ). Body and wings yellow, wing markings brown. Forewing length 12.0–18.0 mm, wingspan 23.0–36.0 mm. Frons and vertex white. Antenna pale yellow. Labial palpi with basal segment white, and ventral second segment white at base, the remainder brown. Maxillary palpi brown. Patagium pale yellow, brown laterally. Tegula and thorax pale yellow. Forewing with orbicular stigma very small; discoidal stigma reniform; a broad brown band along terminal margin, interiorly concaved and slightly narrowed between the M 2 and CuA 2, with dark interior boundary. Hindwing with discoidal stigma oval; a broad band along terminal margin, gradually narrowed to middle, convex near anal angle. Cilia brown, with dark basal line. Legs with femur and terminal tibia brown, epiphysis orange. Of proximal and distal spurs of hind tibia, inner spurs approximately three times the length of outer spurs. Abdomen yellow, silvery white ventrally.

Male genitalia ( Figs 3F, G View FIGURE 3 ). Uncus elongated, basal two fifths thin, distal three fifths broad and elliptical, rounded at apex, densely ciliated laterally. Valva broad and lingulate, with sparse setae. Fibula pointed to the distal end of sacculus. Juxta water drop-shaped. Phallus with cornutus composed of a bunch of minute spines.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 3H View FIGURE 3 ). Apophyses anterioris about 1.5 times as long as apophyses posterioris, rhomboidally broad near base. Ductus bursae long and slender, broad and weakly sclerotized near antrum. Corpus bursae elliptical, posterior half densely covered with small granules.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin latizonus for a broad band, in reference to the broad bands along the terminal margin of the wings.

Distribution. China (Chongqing, Guizhou, Sichuan).

Remarks. In the unmounted state, the broad distal part of the uncus laterally folds in the two species. In U. patulalis , the fold is easy to unfold in dissecting, but is hard to unfold in U. latizona ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ).
