Differential diagnosis. Body size 15.5–18 mm; color usually black, sometimes with blue or copper luster ( Figs 13–19 View FIGURES 13–28 ). Similar to and sympatric with T. ventricosa ; reliably distinguished by the shape of the endophallus. Exterior differs by more marked interocular furrow and by a gently punctured apical half of elytra (rarely punctures barely visible). In T. ventricosa interocular furrows shallow, as in T. aptera , and disc of elytra in apical half is always smooth. Aedeagus ( Figs 14–15 View FIGURES 13–28 ). Endophallus ( Figs 20–28 View FIGURES 13–28 ), protuberances: VB weakly convex; DB large and not biforked; D large and laterally prominent; DA relatively small and short; A large and transversally biforked; VA large, robust, and relatively short; flagellum long and thin.

Comments. Type of T. ovicollis was not found in the collection of Motschulsky in ZMUM, thus a neotype is designated here. The subspecies Tricondyla (Tricondyla) aptera lumawigi Wiesner, 1989 syn. nov. was described on the basis of two specimens with identical labels (Mountain Province) but without precise data. Its endophallus structure is similar to that of T. ovicollis . The slight differences are due to the fact that it is not fully inflated. New synonymy is proposed here.

Distribution. Endemic to the Philippines ( Map 1 View MAP ), known from Luzon and Samar.
