Type material. Holotype ♀ (SWUC-T-AM-12-01), MALAYSIA (Borneo), Sabah, 33 Miles Jalan Tambunan, Penampang , 05°48.739′N 116°20.522′E, 1583 m, 15.X.2015, Z.Z. Gao, G.Q. Huang and L.Y. Wang GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 29 ♀ (SWUC-T-AM-12-02~30), with same data as holotype GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the type locality; adjective in apposition.

Diagnosis. The female of the new species can be differentiated from all other species in the T. flavidorsalis species - group by the following combination of characters: a pair of cambered eigynal teeth close together in T. borneoensis sp. nov. ( Figs 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2B View FIGURE 2 ), whereas rounded halfway and far apart from each other in other species (e.g., T. cangshan in Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ); copulatory opening located anteriorly in T. borneoensis sp. nov., whereas copulatory duct located in other species; ventro-mesal median lobe with a posterior epigynal hood in T. borneoensis sp. nov., whereas epigynal hood within median lobe in other Taira species ; spermathecae tortuous in T. borneoensis sp. nov. ( Figs 1B View FIGURE 1 , 2C View FIGURE 2 ), whereas simple in other species of this group.

Description. Female. Total length 8.09–11.64. Holotype ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) total length 8.00. Carapace 3.26 long, 2.51 wide; opisthosoma 5.09 long, 3.91 wide. Eye size and interdistances: AME 0.17, ALE 0.20, PME 0.19, PLE 0.20; AME–AME 0.13, AME–ALE 0.14, PME–PME 0.22, PME–PLE 0.25, ALE–PLE 0.04. MOA 0.57 long, front width 0.45, back width 0.62. Clypeus height 0.17. Chelicerae with 5 promarginal and 4 retromarginal teeth. Leg measurements: I 9.53 (2.74, 3.46, 2.16, 1.17); II 7.79 (2.45, 2.69, 1.70, 0.95); III 6.69 (2.16, 2.26, 1.39, 0.88); IV 8.21 (2.55, 2.93, 1.78, 0.95).

Epigyne ( Figs 1A, B View FIGURE 1 , 2B, C View FIGURE 2 ) with a pair of cambered epigynal teeth located close to each other. Ventro-mesal median lobe with epigynal hood situated posteriorly. Copulatory opening located anteriorly. Copulatory ducts short, merging with spermathecae. Spermathecae tortuous and compact. Fertilization ducts short, located posteriorly.

Male unknown.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality, Sabah, Malaysia ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 ).
