Tabanus tergestinus View in CoL shows very little variation, only the size and number of abdominal side-markings are varied ( Leclercq 1966). It is a Palearctic species known from Central and southern Europe, in addition to former USSR and Iran ( Olsufjev 1970). It was recorded from Iraq ( Sabr 2018). According to Horváth et al. (2019), T. tergestinus View in CoL favor warm, glossy, sunny black objects over chilly, shaded ones that have the same optical properties.
