4. Syzygium chavaran (Bourdillon) Gamble (1919: 480) View in CoL . = Eugenia chavaran Bourdillon (1908: 188) . Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Kerala: North Travancore, Periyar river, 10 Dec. 1904, T.F. Bourdillon 1567 (lower specimen of K000821386!; isolectotypes upper specimen of K000821386!, TBGT!).

Distribution:— India, Western Ghats (Karnataka and Kerala), endemic and endangered.

Notes:—Bourdillon (1908) described Eugenia chavaran based on the specimens collected from evergreen forests near Periyar river, North Travancore, Kerala. Three herbarium sheets of E. chavaran collected by Bourdillon from evergreen forests near Periyar river, North Travancore were traced, one at K and two at TBGT. Of these, the lower specimen of K000821386 is better preserve and therefore selected here as the lectotype.
