Types. Female holotype ( MNHNSD 09.1616 View Materials ) from Reserva Científica Loma Barbacoa (18°27'40.79"N – 70°20'21.35"W), 1227 m, Province Peravia, Dominican Republic, 02.X.2011, C. Suriel & G. de los Santos GoogleMaps .
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality.
Diagnosis. Females are distinguished from other Hispaniolan species of the cimitarra group by the slightly straight and close together anterior edges of posterior plates, and by the posterior edges widely separated from each other ( Fig. 3D – E View FIGURE 3 ).
Description. Male: Unknown.
Female (holotype MNHNSD 09.1616): carapace orange with two dark gray paramedian bands, which span from anterior border to posterior border of carapace ( Fig. 10E View FIGURE 10 ). Palp orange, claw with one tooth. Chelicerae and labium red brown. Endites and sternum orange. Abdomen gray with three dorsal white lines and white spots ( Fig. 10E View FIGURE 10 ), ventrally gray. Total length 7.5, carapace length 4.1, width 3.8. Eye diameters: AME 0.14, ALE 0.16, PME 0.19, PLE 0.18. Chelicerae 1.8 long, with 3 promarginal and 2 retromarginal teeth. Leg femur length: I—3.2; II—2.8; III—2.7; IV—3.5. Palp: claw with one tooth ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ); spination: patella p1; tibia p2-1-0, d1-1-0; tarsus v0- 0-2, p2-1-0, r1-1-0, d1-1-0. Leg spination: I—tibia v2-2-2, p0, r0, d0, metatarsus v2-2-0, p0, r0, d0; II [right]—tibia v1-2-2, p0-1-1, r0, d0, metatarsus v2-2-0, p0, r0, d0; III—tibia v2-2-2, p1-1-0, r1-1-0, d1-1-0, metatarsus v2-2-1, p1-1-1, r1-1-1, d1-2-2; IV—tibia v2-2-2, p1-1-0, r1-1-0, d2-1-0, metatarsus v2-2-2, p1-1-1, r1-1-1, d2-2-2. Epigynum: atrium wider than long, with a long and wide dorsal median plate and atrial lateral dorsal folds; atrial hood not projected ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ); anterior edges of posterior plates slightly straight and close ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ), posterior edges separated ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ); primary spermathecae small; secondary spermathecae small and projected internally; copulatory ducts L-shaped, very long and coiled; fertilization ducts relatively long ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 D–E).
Distribution. Known only from the cloud forest in the northeastern slope of the type locality ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ).
