Type locality: China: Yunnan: Tengchong County.
Type material. Holotype: male, China: Yunnan: Tengchong County (24°94'N, 98°59'E), Renjiafen village , 1200 m, 4.VII.2016, Xiao-Yan Li leg. (IZ-CAS).
Description. BL: 5.0 mm, FL: 3.0 mm, HW: 0.81 mm, PL: 0.69 mm, PW: 0.60 mm, EL: 0.90 mm, EW: 0.83 mm, SPL: 0.72 mm.
Macropterous; body black with a bright luster; each elytron with a moderately large, oval marroon spot, which is about 1/3 as long as and 2/5 as broad as the respective elytron. Antennae yellowish brown; maxillary palpi yelliowish, apical segment III slightly infuscate; legs red brown, but the knees is darker. Clypeus black, labrum dark brown with sparse pubescent; paraglossae koniform.
Head slightly narrower than elytra. Interocular area with two broad longitudinal furrows, median portion moderately elevated, not extending the level of dorsal eye margins; punctures round, mostly well delimited, slightly larger and sparser on median area than those near inner margins of eyes, diameter of large punctures about as large as apical cross section of antennal segment II; interstices smooth, distinctly narrower than half diameter of punctures. Antenna slender, when reflexed distinctly extending beyond the posterior margin of pronotum.
Pronotum slightly longer than broad, broadest slightly behind middle; disk uneven, with a shallow median longitudinal furrow; punctures partially confluent, as large as those on head; interstices smooth, mostly smaller than half of puncture diameter.
Elytra trapezoid, longer than wide; shoulders oblique, disk relatively even; humeral impression and long sutural impression shallow, postero-lateral impression small; punctures mostly well delimited, about as large as those on pronotum; interstices smooth, mostly narrower than half the diameter of punctures.
Legs slender, tarsomeres IV deeply bilobed.
Abdomen cylindrical, tergites III–VI with broad and almost parallel paratergites; with shallow basal furrows of anterior tergites; tergite VII with distinct apical membranous fringe; punctures round, dense, becoming slightly smaller and sparser posteriad; punctures on tergite VII slightly larger than eye facets, interstices slightly narrower than half the diameter of punctures.
Male: sternite VIII ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 & 6B View FIGURE 6 ) posteromedially with a small triangular emargination; sternite IX ( Fig. 5G View FIGURE 5 & 6C View FIGURE 6 ) with a moderately long apicolateral tooth, posterior margin serrate; tergite IX & X ( Fig. 5H View FIGURE 5 & 6D View FIGURE 6 ) broadly rounded at posterior margin. Aedeagus ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 & 6A View FIGURE 6 ) robust, almost parallel-sided, obtusely pointed at apex; apical sclerotized area triangular. Endophallus with median bands moderately long; lateral bands very thin, converging anteriorly; expulsion clasps almost H-shaped, connected each other by a thin, almost V-shaped rod; copulatory tube with main tube rod-like, narrowed apically. Parameres each much longer than median lobe, distinctly swollen at apex to form a large mesial flap, apical area with 16–20 setae.
Female: Unknown.
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the name of the type locality of this species
Remarks. This new species belongs to Stenus abdominalis group. The species is closely related to S. obliquemaculatus Puthz, 2013 , but can be distinguished from it by elytra spot smaller and vaguer and the different details of aedeagus. The aedeagus resembles S. commaculatus Puthz 1983 , but can be distinguished from the latter by the smaller body size and the different shape of parameres.
