Types. Male holotype from Parque Municipal Lagoa do Peri , 20 m asl, 27°43'26.10"S, 48°30'29.07"W, Santa Catarina Island, Florianópolis , Santa Catarina GoogleMaps , Brazil, vii–viii.2011, pitfall traps, A.L. Trivia & L. Malta coll. ( IBSP 166236 View Materials ) . Paratype: same data as holotype, 1 male ( IBSP 166079 View Materials ) GoogleMaps .
Additional material examined. None.
Diagnosis. Males of S. peri sp. nov. resemble those of S. gugai sp. nov. by the long bulb keels ( Figs 41–43 View FIGURES 41 – 48 ), but can be distinguished by the absence of a developed retrolateral keel with triangular apical end and diagonal embolus tip ( Figs 41–43 View FIGURES 41 – 48 ).
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality, Parque Municipal da Lagoa do Peri , Santa Catarina Island, Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Description. Male (holotype). Color pattern in ethanol: carapace and legs yellowish brown. Body with light pubescence, covered with golden setae. Abdomen dorsally yellowish brown with brown mottling forming a discrete chevron, and ventrally yellowish brown, with four small posterior spots group. Total length 10.83. Carapace 5.11 long, 4.00 wide, with short and procurved fovea. Abdomen 4.42 long, 2.60 wide. Thoracic region slightly raised. Clypeus narrow, 0.07. Eye tubercle weakly elevated, wider than long. Anterior eye row slightly procurved, posterior recurved. Eye sizes: AME 0.32, ALE 0.27, PME 0.17 and PLE 0.25. Chelicerae with eight teeth in prolateral row, with ca. 25 basal smaller teeth and rastellum weak, formed by long thin setae. Intercheliceral tumescence medium, pale yellow covered with few setae. Labium 0.40 long, 0.62 wide, with no cuspules. Maxillae with ca. 65 blunt cuspules on internal basal angle. Serrula developed. Sternum oval 2.63 long, 2.11 wide. Sternal sigilla very small, granulate, marginal: anterior and median rounded, posterior oval-elongated, twice size of anterior, away from margin by ca. 1/4 length. Palp: measurements: femur 2.22/ patella 1.41/ tibia 1.70/ cymbium 0.91/ total 6.24; spination: tibia p0-0-1-1, r0-0-0-1. Legs: measurements: I: femur 4.22/ patella 2.50/ tibia 3.41/ metatarsus 3.51/ tarsus 2.90/ total 16.54; II: 3.72/ 1.91/ 3.02/ 2.90/ 2.50/ 14.05; III: 3.52/ 2.01/ 2.50/ 3.40/ 2.21/ 13.64; IV: 4.92/ 2.40/ 3.80/ 5.11/ 2.40/ 18.63; spination: I: femur d1-1-0-2, tibia v1 p-0-2-0-1-(1r megaspine), metatarsus v1 -0-2ap, p0-1-0-1; II: femur d1-2-1r-2, patella 0, tibia v1 -0-1-0-2ap, p0- 1-0-1-0, metatarsus v1 -0-1-0-2ap, p0-1-0-1-0; III: femur d1-2-2-1r-1p, patella p0-1-2-2-1, r0-0-1-0, tibia d0-0-2-0, v2 - 0-2-0-1ap, p0-1-0-1-0, metatarsus d0-1-0-1-0-1, v2-2 -0-3ap, p0-1-0-1-0-1-0, r0-1-0-1-0-1; IV: femur d1-2-2-1r-1r, patella r0-1-0, tibia v2 -0-2-0-2ap, p0-1-0-1-0, r0-1-0-1-0, metatarsus d0-0-1-0-1-0-2, v0-0-1p-1r-0-1p-1r-1p-0-3ap, p0- 1-0-1-0-1-0, r0-0-0-1-0. Metatarsal preening combs: III: 3VP, 3VR; IV: 2VP, 3VR. Tarsi I–IV flexible. Scopulae on tarsi I, II dense and symmetrical, III, IV light. Scopulae on tarsi I–IV divided by thin setae: I, II by one row, III, IV by 3– 4 rows. Scopulae on 1/8 of metatarsi I, II; III, IV absent. STC large with double row of teeth: I: 10, 10, 11, 11; II: 8, 8, 6, 6, III: 8, 7, 8, 6, IV: 8, 6, 6, 8. ITC on tarsus IV. Trichobothria and tarsal organ as in S. pavesii sp. nov. Four spinnerets: PLS: basal segment 0.65, median segment 0.70, apical segment triangular 0.50 long. Spigots as in S. pavesii sp. nov. Palp: cymbium with thin setae, resembling tarsal scopulae setae; tibia long, narrow ( Figs 41, 43 View FIGURES 41 – 48 ) and with shallow ventral excavation ( Figs 41, 43 View FIGURES 41 – 48 ); tibial excavation and basal region of tegulum ( Figs 41, 42 View FIGURES 41 – 48 ) with grooves, suggesting possible stridulatory apparatus; bulb piriform with five parallel keels ( Figs 42, 43 View FIGURES 41 – 48 ).
Female. Unknown.
Variation. Males (n=2): total length 10.83–11.00; carapace 5.11–5.30 long; maxillae with 60–65 cuspules.
Distribution. Known only from the type locality, Santa Catarina Island, Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
