Distribution in PILA 300–1500 m, low elevation mixed forest, mixed forest in transition to low elevation forest, mixed forest in transition to cloud forest. Global distribution: Costa Rica, Panama. Themistoclesia costaricensis Luteyn & Wilbur Terrestrial or facultative epiphytic shrubs. Distribution in PILA 1300–2300 m, mixed forest in transition to cloud forest, cloud forest, low elevation oak forest. Global distribution: Costa Rica to Colombia. Records: A.
