TYPE LOCALITY: Russia, N Caucasus, Krasnodarskiy Kray (Kuban Prov.), Maykop (Maikop) District, 7000-9000 feet .

DISTRIBUTION: NW Caucasus; distribution figured by Sokolov et al. (1987a).

COMMENTS: Sokolov et al. (1981 b, 1987b) gave karyological and phallic characters that distinguished this species from S. kluchorica and S. concolor , S. armenica ( Sokolov and Baskevich, 1988) , and S. kazbegica ( Sokolov et al., 1986b) . See also comment under Sicista , and in Corbet (1984:25).
