20. Sesleria rhodopaea Tashev & Dimitrov (2012: 170)
Type:— BULGARIA. [Plovdiv district]: Central Rhodopes, in the area of Dobrostan village, Anarska shirina, limestone rocky place, 41°54′57.0′′ N, 24°53′03.5′′ E, 1440 m, 17 August 2007, Tashev s.n. (holotype SOM-167294!, isotype BEOU 31897!).
Taxonomy:— Sesleria rhodopaea is the most recently described species in the genus ( Tashev & Dimitrov 2012: 170). Plant material from which the species was described was collected in Bulgaria, near the road from “Martsiganitsa” hut to “Chervenata stena” peak (Central Rhodopes). From approximately the same locality (“in monte Chervenata stena”) the original material for S. pontica was collected by Klášterský and Deyl ( Deyl 1946). After studying the type material of S. rhodopaea deposited in SOM, as well as duplicates obtained as a gift from the author ( A. Tashev) and deposited in BEOU, we concluded that this species represents a deviating form of S. latifolia . Further study is needed to confirm the taxonomic status of this species.
