Type Material. Holotype. NEW ZEALAND: Nelson: 1♂ ( NZAC), aedeagus dissected and mounted in balsam on a clear plastic card, “ NEW ZEALAND NN Mt Murchison 914m 26 mar 1975 K.W. Walker ”, “Tussock Litter 75/123”, “ N.Z. Arthropod Collection, NZAC Private Bag 92170 AUCKLAND New Zealand”, “ HOLOTYPE Sagola murchisonensis Park and Carlton 2013 . Paratype (1 female). NEW ZEALAND: Nelson : 1♀ ( NZAC), same data as holotype .

Etymology. This species is named after the type locality, Mt. Murchison, Nelson.

Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished from the other species of the misella speciesgroup by the following combination of characters: body larger, length 2.4–2.6 mm; male antennomeres not enlarged; male elytra subquadrate; shape of antennomeres and genitalia unique to species; only known from Nelson.

Description. Length 2.4–2.6 mm. Body brown, antennae, legs, maxillary palpi, and elytra paler ( Fig. 58d View Fig ). Head: Round, as long as wide, widest across eyes ( Fig. 58d View Fig ). Antennomere 1 approximately 2 times longer than wide, 2 longer than wide, 3 subquadrate, 4–5 longer than wide, 6–10 subquadrate. Frontal rostrum rectangular, lobes continuous. Frontal sulcus reaching midpoint of eye. Posterior frontal fovea teardrop-shaped. Eye prominent, approximately one-third length of temple. Thorax: Prosternum as long as wide, widest at midpoint. Elytra subquadrate ( Fig. 58d View Fig ). Meso- and metathorax trapezoidal, as long as wide. Abdomen: Male tergite IV without patches of microtrichia. Aedeagus: Median lobe of genitalia divided, minor lobe membranous ( Fig. 59d View Fig ). Phallobase of median lobe symmetrical and rounded ( Fig. 59d View Fig ). Parameres symmetrical, as wide as median lobe, with setae apically ( Fig. 59d View Fig ).

Distribution. Nelson ( Fig. 61 View Fig : triangle).

Habitat. Specimens of this species were collected by sifting tussock litter.
