Puccinia lilii-cordifolii (Dietel) Kakish., Jing X. Ji, K. Hosaka & Hosoya , comb. nov.
MycoBank: 854816.
Basionym:— Aecidium lilii-cordifolii Dietel, Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 32: 629, 1903 [MB147627].
Heterotypic synonym:— Puccinia hibayamensis Morim. , Journal of Japanese Botany 34: 185, 1959 [MB304653].
Type:— Lectotype is selected from specimens in TNS and designated here; 0, I on Lilium cordifolium Thunb. [= L. cordatum (Thunb.) Koiz. ], Japan, Ibaraki Prefecture, Mt. Tsukuba, May 1900, S. Kusano, No 23, TNS-F100535, [MBT10021460]. Paratype in NY (611181). Epitype specimen is designated here because the morphology of uredinial and telial stages are important characters to specify this species: II, III on Carex multifolia Ohwi (= C. dolichostachya var. glaberrima (Ohwi) T. Koyama , Japan, Hiroshima Prefecture, Mt. Hibayama, 15 December 1957, HH56482, Holotype of P. hibayamensis , [MBT10021422].
Description:—See Morimoto (1959) and Hiratsuka et al. (1992).
Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Cardiocrinum cordatum (Thunb.) Makino var. cordatum (= Lilium cordatum (Thunb.) Koidz. var. cordatum ) (Hon, Shi, Kyu), C. cordatum var. glehnii (F. Schmidt) H. Hara (= Lilium cordatum var. glehnii (Fr. Schum.) Wood. ; II, III on Carex alterniflora Franch. var. alterniflora [= C. pisiformis subsp. alteniflora (Franch.) T. Koyama , C. sachalinensis var. alterniflora (Franch.) Ohwi ] (Hon), C. multifolia Ohwi var. multifolia [= C. dolichostachya subsp. multifolia (Ohwi) T. Koyama, C. dolichostachya var. glaberrima (Ohwi) T. Koyama ] ( Morimoto 1959, 1961, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).
Notes:—Life cycle of this species was proved by Hiratsuka & Kaneko (1977) and Kakishima & Sato (1980) ( Hiratsuka et al. 1984). Aecidium lilii-cordifolii is the earliest legitimate name of this species. Therefore, a new combination name, based on this anamorphic species name, Puccinia lilii-cordifolii , is proposed under the ICNafp Shenzhen Code ( Turland et al. 2018). This species has been reported from China and Taiwan ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Tai 1979, Hiratsuka & Chen 1991, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).
