Ptychopseustis brunneoflavalis sp. n.

Imago (fig. 46): Wingspan 14–15 mm. Head ochreous, maxillary palpus ochreous, less than diameter of eye; labial palpus ochreous with black dorsal spot beyond halfway, twice diameter of eye; antenna pale ochreous. Thorax and tegulae pale ochreous. Forewing ground colour ochreous, a broad oblique fuscous fascia before halfway, a pair of dark fuscous dots in disc, a dark fuscous blotch above tornus, its inner edge forming and irregular fascia, a sequence of dots along termen, terminal fringe dark fuscous. Hindwing pale ochreous.

Male genitalia (fig. 79): Uncus evenly tapered with apex rounded, gnathos digitate, about as long as uncus; vlava slender with ventral process before apex with a rounded knob; vinculum with coremata comprising four or five strands evenly curved towards apex. Aedeagus curved back and forth, cornutus weak and linear.

Female genitalia: Not examined.

Diagnosis: Distinguished from other species in the genus by the conspicuous fuscous markings on the forewing as shown in fig 46.

Life history: not known.

Derivation: from the colouration of the forewing.

Distribution: Madagascar.

Type material: Holotype ♂ [ Madagascar] Diego Suarez 23.iv.1917 (G. Melou) NHMUK010919119, BM Pyralidae Genitalia slide No. 23245. Two paratypes ♀ iii.1917, same locality as holotype.
