Figs. 27, 58, 97, 131, 170, 229, 262, 307, 350, 395, 455, 491, map 1.

Holotype (male): Indonesia, Papua: W. New Guinea, Mt. Nomo S. of Mt. Bougainville , 213 m, 2° 42' S, 139° 59' E, II.1936, L.E. Cheesman, depository: The Natural History Museum, London, United Kingdom ( BMNH). GoogleMaps

Paratype: 1 female, same data as holotype ( BMNH) GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis. The male cercus of P. nomo is similar to that of P.stylata in that the apico-internal process has the apex suddenly constricted with the distal angle being spinose, the proximal angle obtuse. It differs by the baso-internal process of the cercus being of medium length, little undulate and at apex with a spinule ( Figs. 170, 229). P. nomo also differs from P. stylata by the epiproct that has the apical area bent distad and the apex truncate ( Fig. 97), and by the oval apical parts of the titillators ( Fig. 350). The female is characterised by the subgenital plate that has in middle of the basal area a large triangular groove, divided by a stout median carina; laterally is a large groove at each side extended into the apical lobes, which are obtuse and moved latero-dorsad ( Fig. 455). Differences to other species are outlined in the key.

Description. Fastigium verticis in front of eyes 1.2 mm, from base 1.6 mm; dorsal eye length 1.6 mm; greatest diameter of eye 1.8 mm; index fastigium verticis from base: eye length 1.0. Face rugose but shining. Tegmen surpassing apices of hind femora; gradually narrowed behind basal widening. Femora with the following number of spines on ventral margins: fore femur 8 external, 6 internal; mid femur 6–7 external, 2–3 internal near base; hind femur 10–12 external, 5–7 minute internal near base.

Male. Stridulatory file slightly sinuate, 2.3 mm long; teeth at apex very dense and indistinct; with 86 teeth or 37.7 teeth per mm, in middle of file with 32.3 teeth per mm ( Fig. 58). Mirror pentagonal with rounded angles; fore and hind margins straight; 1.7 mm long 1.5 mm wide; index length:width 1.1. Tenth abdominal tergite with apical margin roundly excised in middle, little projecting on both sides ( Fig. 97). Epiproct short, apex truncate, dorsally furrowed ( Fig. 97). Paraproct with compressed obtuse projection. Cerci cylindrical, slightly curved, with two internal projections: one at end of basal quarter, the other at apex ( Figs. 131, 170, 229). Baso-internal projection digitiform, curved. Apico-internal projection narrow, curved, nearly parallelsided; with spine at tip. Cercus apex proper little swollen, obtuse. Subgenital plate at apex roundly excised ( Fig. 262).

Titillators separate; basal parts rather broad, little twisted; apical parts long-oval. Surface of apical parts densely covered with clinging hairs; apico-lateral margin convex, with short transverse and longer crests interrupted by furrows; coarsely granular ( Figs. 307, 350, 395). Apico-lateral sclerites large, oval, hyaline.

Female. Tenth abdominal tergite furrowed in midline. Subgenital plate divided in midline by a large triangular groove with low median carina; on both sides of groove greatly swollen; resulting lateral plates with large basal groove; basal grooves subdivided by a fold; apical area forming an obtuse lobe ( Fig. 455, 491). Lateral sclerites near base of subgenital plate obtuse.

Coloration. Yellowish brown. Face with black band between eyes including scapus; with another black band along clypeo-frontal suture extended on genae; both connected by a vertical black band widening ventrad ( Fig. 27). Mandibles black except at base. Pronotal disc medium brown; anterior area with a yellow spot. Tegmen with pattern of dark cells and light veinlets distinct. Fore tibia infumate in anterior area especially near tympana.

Measurements: body male 33, female 32; pronotum male 8.7, female 9.0; tegmen male 31, female 33.5; hind femur male 19, female 22; ovipositor female 20.5 mm.

Etymology. Named after the type locality; noun in apposition.
