Material studied. Holotype male. NEW CALEDONIA, Pindaï, sclerophyllous forest, 30.vi.1992, Bonnet de Larbogne, Chazeau & Guilbert (in MNHN). Paratypes. 2 males, Sud du Grand Lac, 160°54’00’’E, 22°16’31’’E, 240 m, maquis haut, 14.x.1985 (in MZH and SMNH), 1 male, same data as previous but 280 m (in MNHN), 1 male, Ouinné Valley, 730 m, 166°28’E, 22°02’S, 730 m, humid forest with araucarians, 27–30.x.1984, Tillier & Bouchet (in PWMP).
Description. Male. Head. Brown, antenna unicolorous brown, maxillary palpus slightly paler brown. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. Face with 9–14 scattered longer and shorter setae. Clypeus with 5–0 setae. Maxillary palpus with 3 palpomeres; palpomere 3 longer than palpomere 1, palpomere 2 shortest; palpomere 1 with 3–8 setae, with a dorsal patch of sensilla; Antennal flagellomeresrough, flagellomere 4 ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 A) 1.95–2.25x as long as wide, the neck shorter than broad, the longest setae shorter than the width of flagellomere. Thorax. Brown, setae dark. Anterior pronotum with 5–7 setae. Episternum 1 with 5–8 setae. Scutum with short dorsocentrals, with 2–3 stronger laterals, scutellum with 4 longer and some short setae. Wing. Hyalinous. Length 1.4–1.7 mm. Width/ length 0.45. Veins distinct. R1/R 0.50–0.75. c/ w 0.70 –0.80. r-m shorter than bM, both r-m and bM non-setose. Halter brown. Legs. Gonocoxa longer than gonostylus, mesial margin sparsely setose. Gonostylus slightly curved, with the mesial side strongly impressed at middle third; with a dense apical vestiture, with two rather slender megasetae, with a long subapical whiplash seta. Tegmen apically truncate, laterally roundish, with a large sclerotized apical process.
Discussion. See under Pseudolycoriella tribulosa .
Etymology. The name is Latin, tumidior , swollen, referring to the swollen apical part of the gonostylus.
