Etymology. The species is named after Hans Sauter for his remarkable contribution of Taiwan's insect and animal collections.
Diagnosis. Pseudogagrella sauteri is most similar to P. cyanea ( Suzuki 1977: figs. 8, 13B–E) and P. taiwana ( Suzuki 1977: fig. 9), but the penis of P. sauteri with a proportion of alate part shorter than that of P. taiwana , but longer than P. cyanea .
Description. Male holotype. Dorsal surface of body glossy. Supra-cheliceral lamellae tipped with some small tubercles ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 I). Abdomen with one straight median spine on second tergite. Ocularium oval ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–E), with two rows of five setae. Eye ring black, dark between eyes. All free sternites and genital operculum granular, with sparse hairs. Surface of all coxae with scattered coarse granules. All coxae with a row of humps anteriorly and posteriorly.
Chelicera ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 J–K). Basal segment with a few tubercles and setae above, a blunt spur below. Distal segment with some setae above, ectal aspect smooth, medial aspect with some black-tipped tubercle.
Pedipalp ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–B). All segments with many setae, excepting trochanter. Trochanter with one tubercle on ectal aspect, ventral edge rough at distal end. Femur with a row of denticles, some ventral spine-tipped tubercle on ectal aspect, with 7 ventral denticles on medial aspect. Patella swollen into a slight lobe at inner tip, ectal aspect with 8 denticles, medial aspect with 15 denticles. Tibia thickened, with dense covering of hairs below. Tarsus elongated, slightly concave along the ventral edge, with a row of denticles on medial aspect, denticles not extending to tip. Claw with short pectination.
Legs. All legs slim and elongate. Trochanters mound-shaped ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A), all femora without false articulations, tarsus longer than tibia.
Penis ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F–G). Shaft 3.36 long, 0.29 wide at base, 0.24 wide at middle; glans 0.56 long, 0.14 wide at base. Shaft slender, with sides nearly parallel; alate part obvious, narrowing proximally to nearly half of shaft. Glans widest at base. Stylus acicular.
Female paratypes. Dorsal surface of body similar to male, excepting abdomen of female longer than male ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 C–D, F). Tibia of pedipalps normal without dense covering of hairs below. Seminal receptacle ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 H), located between segments three to four of ovipositor, terminal with one ampulla.
Measurements. Holotype male (female paratype NCHUZOOL 14840): Cephalothorax 1.8 (2.3) long, 3.7 (4.1) wide; abdomen 3.3 (6.6) long, 3.4 (5.3) wide. Total length of body 5.1 (8.9). The appendage measurements of P. sauteri are in Table 4.
Coloration. Dorsum dark brown with green metallic luster ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A–B, E). Carapace with milky-white spot extending from leading edge to ocularium, central area of spot with brown stripe. Ocularium blackish brown, with black eye rings. Coxa of all legs blackish brown. Genital operculum pale yellow. Sternites blackish with pale yellow edge. Chelicerae pale yellow, pedipalps orange. All legs black.
Distribution. Central Taiwan ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ).
Habitat. The species inhabits in bushes and tree trunks.
