Type-species — Pseudocanidia cuernavacae Dillon, 1955 (original designation).
Diagnosis. “… s cape elongate, extending behind lateral tubercles, […], gradually widened to beyond middle, thence slightly tapered apically, strongly flattened on ventro-mesial surface, the plane area margined on each side by a smooth, uniform carina, its extreme apex produced into a short, broad, emarginate process” ( Dillon 1955a); pronotum slightly wider across base than long, apex subequal to base; lateral tubercles low, small, at basal third of pronotum, armed with a long, acute, strongly recurved spine; pronotum with only a trace of tubercle at middle; elytra with basal gibbosity obsolete, without centrobasal crest or carina, without costae, and with only a very few, long, flying hairs, which are sparse at base and on apical declivity ( Dillon 1955a); basal metatarsomere subequal to next two together in both sexes ( Dillon 1955a). Number of species currently included: 8; in Mexico and Central America : 8.
