Promalactis minutispina Kim , sp. nov.
Diagnosis
This species is externally similar to Promalactis mentawirella Lvovsky, 2000a , in the fore wing pattern, but it can be easily differentiated by the weakly developed subbasal band, the smaller costal patch and the brownish yellow ground colour of the fore wing.
Description
Adult ( Figures 2i View Figure 2 , 3i View Figure 3 ). Head: Frons greyish brown. Vertex greyish white tinged with dark brown with brownish yellow occiput. Antenna with scape white entirely, as long as diameter of eye; flagellum white and dark brown alternately dorsally. Labial palpus with second segment brownish yellow; third segment dark brown except white at base; second segment longer than third segment. Thorax: Thorax and tegula brownish yellow. Wingspan 9.5–10.0 mm.
Fore wing ground colour brownish yellow; three bands edges with fuscous scales: subbasal band weakly developed, traversed from costal margin to posterior margin just near wing base; antemedial band relatively broad, slightly oblique from one-quarter of costal margin to one-third of posterior margin; medial band oblique toward apex, not reaching to costal patch; costal patch at two-thirds, small, somewhat irregular; apical patch small, proceeded by black scales; fringes brownish yellow, except greyish brown near apex and tornus. Hind wing ground colour pale greyish brown; fringes greyish brown.
Male unknown. Female genitalia ( Figure 5d, 5 View Figure 5 da). Papilla anales setose. Apophyses posteriores almost three times length of apophyses anteriores. Antrum large circular. Abdominal seventh sternum entirely setose, with a pair of folded and sclerotized lateral process on subposterior margin. Ductus bursae 1.5 times length of seventh sterum, wrinkled vertically bearing three to five tiny spines in posterior margin, gradually narrowed to corpus bursae. Corpus bursa circular; signum absent.
Holotype
Female, Sumatra U., 7 km southeast Parapat , 22 August 1992, J.B. Heppner & E.W. Diehl, gen. slide no. 9319/ S. Kim. Paratype. one female, northern Sumatra, 18 km, NE Parapat, 8–14 November 1985, 1050 m, J.B. Heppner & E.W. Diehl, gen. slide no. 9332/ S. Kim.
Distribution
Indonesia (Sumatra: North).
Remark
In the female genitalia of this species, ductus bursae have tiny spines in the posterior margin. The number of spines differs between specimens.
Etymology
The specific name is derived from the Latin minuti (= small), plus the Latin spina (= spine), referring to tiny spines in the posterior margin of female genitalia.
