This species is distinguished by having 4–6-trans-septate ascospores, 15–23 × 5–7 μm, entire labia and a basally hyaline to light brown exciple.

Remarks:—Only two Platygramme species are described with trans-septate ascospores and with stictic acid in the thallus, viz. P. discurrens and P. microspora . Both occur in Thailand, and although very common, P. discurrens was not previously reported from Thailand. For differences between the two closely related species see the key below.
