Platessa uniseriata (Lange-Bertalot & Monnier) C.E.Wetzel, Tudesque & Le Cohu , comb. et stat. nov.

Basionym: Achnanthes rupestoides Hohn var. uniseriata Lange-Bertalot & Monnier in Monnier et al. Bulletin de la Société des Sciences Naturelles de l’Ouest de la France (Nantes), 2 ème supplément Hors Série: 134, figs 29−34. 2003. Although originally described from Orleans ( France), Platessa uniseriata was found in a freshwater tropical aquarium, with specific environmental characteristics, with water moderately acid, hard and rich in nutriments where thermophilic (sub-) tropical taxa are mixed with European ones ( Monnier et al. 2003). Most probably this species does not occur naturally in the northern hemisphere. Based on the SEM images provided by Monnier et al. (2003) we propose the transference of the species to the genus Platessa .
