Diagnosis. This species is similar to P. probleta Bradley, 1961 in the male genitalia by having a broad uncus with a papillary posterolateral process. It can be distinguished by the gnathos slightly expanded from distal 1/3 to rounded apex, and the valva wide for basal 1/4 and slightly narrower to before middle in the male genitalia. In P. probleta , the gnathos is narrowed from distal 1/3 to pointed apex, and the valva is uniform for basal 3/5 ( Bradley, 1961: 129. Pl. 5: Figs 7, 8).
Description. Adult ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 f) with wingspan 10.0–11.0 mm. Head creamy white, with sparse yellowish brown scales above compound eyes. Antenna with scape yellowish brown; flagellum khaki and blackish brown alternately. Labial palpus with second segment pale yellow, densely covered with blackish brown scales on both outer and on ventral surfaces; third segment creamy white, mottled greyish brown scales from basal 1/4 to 2/5, distal 1/5 blackish brown except creamy white at apex. Thorax and tegula pale yellow. Forewing yellowish brown, mixed with brown scales; four evenly spaced sub-ovate blackish spots placed near base of Sc vein, at basal 1/3 of cell on upper margin, at both middle and end of cell respectively, joined by arched longitudinal yellowish white band; narrow straight yellowish brown band centrally placed between spot at end of cell and apex of wing, accompanied by yellowish white band along anterior and posterior edges; obscure blackish spot at apex of wing sometimes; fold with an ill-defined longitudinal stripe formed by dense creamy white scales, black spot placed at basal 1/3 and distal 1/3 of longitudinal stripe respectively, the former smaller; small blackish spots along distal 1/4 of costal margin through apex to termen; fringe greyish brown. Hindwing sharply protruded at apex, termen distinctly indent; smoke grey. Legs dominantly yellowish white; fore- and midlegs with coxae and femora blackish brown at base ventrally, tibiae and tarsi blackish brown on outer surface, tarsi with yellowish white ring at apex of each tarsomere; hindleg with tibia bearing long yellowish brown hairs, tarsus blackish brown at base of each tarsomere on outer surface.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 f). Uncus triangularly protruded medially, bifurcate from approximately basal 1/3 by a very narrow cleft; lateral lobes sub-trapezoidal, oblique on posterior margin, with a papillary posterolateral process bearing dense setae. Gnathos stout, weakly hooked, curved at distal 1/3, rounded at apex; culcitula ovate. Tegumen divided from basal 1/3; lateral branch broad, equally wide, blunt anteriorly. Valva far exceeding top of uncus apically; basal 1/4 wide, slightly narrower from 1/4 to before middle, constricted and curved at 3/5, distal 2/5 extending inward, with sparse setae, rounded at apex; ventral margin with a short digitate process at middle, with dense setae. Aedeagus with basal 1/3 expanded, distal 2/3 slightly narrower, rounded apically.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 b). Papillae anales slightly narrowed posteriorly, with sparse setae. Apophyses anteriores about 1/3 length of apophyses posteriores. Ostium bursae rounded. Ductus bursae approximately two times length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae elongate ovate; signum absent.
Distribution. China (Hainan).
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin sinuosus, referring to the slightly curved gnathos.
