Diagnosis. This species is similar to P. porphyroscia Meyrick, 1927 in having an elongate valva with a papillary ventroapical process in the male genitalia. It can be distinguished by the sub-ovate gnathos, the valva with distal 2/3 of equal width, and the aedeagus with a hooked process at basal 1/5. In P. porphyroscia , the gnathos is scutiform, the valva is slightly widened from basal 1/3 to apex, and the aedeagus lacks a basal hooked process ( Clarke, 1969: 313. Figs 2–2 View FIGURE 2 b).
Description. Adult ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 b) with wingspan 11.5 mm. Head yellowish white, with sparse yellowish brown scales above compound eyes. Antenna with scape greyish brown; flagellum khaki ringed with greyish brown. Labial palpus with second segment creamy white, with densely blackish brown scales on outer and ventral surfaces; third segment greyish brown on ventral surface, creamy white mottled greyish brown on dorsal surface, whitish yellow at apex. Thorax and tegula yellowish brown, tegula with sparse greyish brown scales basally. Forewing brown, mixed with pale yellow scales; costal margin with small pale yellow spot at distal 1/3; four evenly spaced sub-ovate blackish spots placed near base of Sc vein, at basal 1/3 of cell on upper margin, at both middle and end of cell respectively, between first spot from base and costal margin mottled pale yellow scales, second to fourth spots surrounded by pale yellow scales; black spot placed at basal 1/3 and distal 1/3 of fold respectively, the former smaller; fringe greyish brown. Hindwing and fringe greyish brown, two to three times of wing width. Legs dominantly pale yellow; fore- and midlegs with coxae and femora greyish brown on ventral surface, tibiae greyish brown mottled pale yellow on outer surface, tarsi blackish brown on outer surface and with a yellowish white ring at apex of each tarsomere; hindleg with tibia and tarsus greyish brown on outer surface, tibia with long greyish brown hairs, tarsus with greyish white ring at apex of each tarsomere.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 b): Uncus about 2/5 length of valva, widely bifurcate in V shape; lateral lobes thick, subdigitate, slightly narrowed to pointed apex, with sparse scales. Gnathos elongate ovate; lateral arm broad, equally wide, ovately protruded forward near base of gnathos; culcitula rounded. Tegumen broad and short, divided from middle in broad U shape, rounded anteriorly. Valva elongate, reaching top of uncus, with sparse setae; basal 1/3 wide, distal 2/3 uniformly narrow and slightly curved inwards; apex rounded, with a papillary ventroapical process. Aedeagus longer than valva, dilated bulbously at base, uniform from 1/3 to 3/4, narrowed from distal 1/4 to pointed apex, with hooked process at basal 1/5.
Female unknown.
Distribution. China (Guangxi).
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin longi- and ovatus, referring to the shape of the gnathos in the male genitalia.
