Pipunculus elegantulus Williston

This species was redescribed recently by Skevington and Marshall (1998) and Rafael (1999). It occurs from Canada to Costa Rica and this is the first record from Nicaragua. It was the most common species in the studied material, collected mainly in Volcán Mombacho, from 600 to 1220 metres elevation.
