NOTES: The Listers in the Notes on Swiss Mycetozoa (Lister & G. Lister, 1908: 216) described this new variety and gave the type location as “On the under side of a leaf of Sieversia montana Spreng. , above Arolla, Vallais, 2700 m. alt.,

July, 1907 (G. Lister)”, later adding “An almost similar specimen, but with more globose sporangia, was gathered at the Blue Cañon, California, by Dr. Harkness, over forty years ago, and was named by the late W. Phillips “ Badhamia inaurata ”.

In BM there is a box ( BM 2991 ) from Arolla , 20.7.07 and comments in notebook XXVI: 4–7, where the “Arolla specimens”, are illustrated so we designate this as the lectotype. In the same box there is a fragment of another specimen (Belalp, 8.7.05). There is also a specimen labelled. “type collection”, from Blue Cañon, Colorado, leg. D. Harkness ex dono W.G. Farlow, that is mentioned in the original publication and so we consider it to be a syntype. There are 3 slides and comments in notebooks XXVI: 4–7 and XXIII: 33. This variety was raised to species rank by G. Lister two years later, on account of its clearly distinct characters .
