Type:—[ EGYPT.] Pass Lethi, südostl. Sinai Halbinsel, 3 May 1904, Kneucker s.n. (lectotype: B barcode B 10 0097160 [digital image!], designated here; isolectotype: B barcode B 10 0097161 [digital image!]) .

Notes:— Bornmüller (1906) described this taxon from mountains of the Sinai Peninsula: “Peninsulae montis Sinai in faucibus vallis “Wadi Lethi” 3. V. 1904 in consortio Ph. nitidi Fres. leg. cl. A. Kneucker” based on a combination of morphological characters: stipitate glandular trichomes on the surface of branches and leaves; leaves with basal auricules and entire margin; and hyaline margins of involucral bracts. Qaiser & Lack (1985: 8) pointed out that the holotype was deposited at B. However, we found two specimens collected by Kneucker from the locality “Pass Lethi”, which we considered equivalent to “Wadi Lethi”. Therefore, a lectotype had to be designated. We chose the specimen B 10 0097160 because it is in a good state of preservation and matches the original description quite well.
