Protologue citation:—“Hab. in ins. Ceylona, Macrae ”.
Type:— SRI LANKA. 1829, J. Macrae s.n. (lectotype M0188743!, designated here).
Notes:— Bentham (1835) described Pedicularis zeylanica based on the collection of J. Macrae from Sri Lanka. Bentham’s and Macrae’s types are known to be held mainly at K, but after contacting the curator of K herbarium no specimen of P. zeylanica collected by J. Macrae from Sri Lanka could be traced. Presently, one specimen of J. Macrae from Sri Lanka is found to be extant at M (M0188743) and is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
