Protologue citation:—“ Sikkim; at Kankola, alt. 13,000 ft., J. D. H.” .

Type:— INDIA. Sikkim: Kankola , 13,000 ft., 22 Aug. 1849, ( Pedicularis n. 20) Hook. f. s.n. (lectotype K000739108!, designated here) ; isolectotypes CAL0000018895!, K000739112!, right hand side middle specimen of P02995307!, right hand side bottom specimen of P02995308!, P02995309!, P02995310!

Notes:— Hooker (1884) described Pedicularis aspleniifolia var. albiflora based on his gathering from Kankola, Sikkim, India at 13,000 ft. altitude. In keeping with the practice of those times, he did not designate a holotype nor did he mention the name of the herbarium where the specimens were housed. Seven specimens of this gathering were traced ( CAL 0000018895, K000739108, K000739112, right hand side middle specimen of P02995307, right hand side bottom specimen of P02995308, P02995309 and P02995310), all agreeing with the protologue. Of these, the better preserved specimen K000739108 from herbarium Hookerianum, is designated here as the lectotype.
