Epitype (here designated):— BRAZIL. São Paulo: “In a wood,” 20 November 1941, B. Pickel 5512 ( US 1803974!).

Notes: — Vellozo’s (1831) plate 87 represents an illustration with analysis according to Art. 38.8 and 38.9 of the ICN (McNeill et al. 2012) and is here chosen as the lectotype for P. villosa as it is the only known original material of the name. Furthermore, B. Pickel 5512 is here selected as the epitype to aid in the interpretation of morphological features diagnostic for this species.
