Material Examined: CNCR20399; number of specimens: 2; CV station; collection date: 01/08/98.

Type locality: Off Galveston Island, Texas coast shelf.

Range extension: This species has previously only been reported from the northern Gulf of Mexico ( McKinney et al. 1978, Rakocinski et al., 1993, 1996). The record of P. texensis at CV inlet, extends its geographic distribution to Veracruz State, Mexico.

Remarks: In the western Gulf of Mexico, this species has been reported to occur between 10 and 18 m depths, with a salinity range of 30 to 36 %o, a temperature range of 15 to 27 °C, and a preference for sandy sediments ( McKinney et al. 1978). The salinity and temperature ranges measured at the collection site in this study were 19 to 27 %o and 28 to 29 °C, respectively.
