( Figures 2A View FIGURE2 , 4 View FIGURE 4 )
Material examined. Holotype: ♂ ( IEBR), VIETNAM, Dong Nai Province, Cat Tien National Park , 10 April–15 May 2007, Malaise trap, Mai P.Q. coll. Paratypes: 1♂ ( IEBR), same locality and collector, 1–8 April 2007 ; 9♂ ( IEBR), same locality and collector, 8–16 May 2007 .
Diagnosis. Black body with yellow markings; occipital carina complete dorsally; postero-ocellar distance 2.2× ocular-ocellar distance; combined area superomedia and area petiolaris of propodeum open anteriorly; area postero-externa complete.
Description of holotype. Face 1.3× as wide as high, granulate, with dense setae, centrally weakly convex. Clypeal suture indistinct. Clypeus 2.0× as wide as high, weakly convex, similar sculptures as face, ventral margin weakly impressed. Mandible moderately stout, gradually narrow to apex, teeth sharp, upper tooth broader and shorter than lower tooth. Malar space matt, 0.6× as long as mandibular basal width ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ). Gena punctate, with setae. Frons and vertex rugose punctate, posterior portion from behind ocelli to occipital carina steeply sloping. Postero-ocellar distance 2.2× ocular-ocellar distance, 1.6× median ocellus diameter ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Antenna with 23 flagellomeres. Occipital carina complete ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ).
Mesosoma.Pronotum with coarse punctures. Epomia present( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ).Mesoscutum 0.8× as long as its maximum width, granulate, with dense setae. Notaulus indistinct. Scutellum weakly convex, anteriorly punctate, posteriorly polished, impunctate, lateral carina present basally ( Fig. 4E View FIGURE 4 ). Mesopleuron polished, punctate, with setae, except medially impunctate; epicnemial carina distinct, reaching to groove below subtegular ridge. Sternaulus distinct, reaching hind margin of mesopleuron, far above lower posterior corner of mesopleuron. Metapleuron subpolished with moderately dense punctures. Juxtacoxal carina complete ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ). Propodeum gradually sloping in lateral view, lateromedian longitudinal carina present posteriorly, extending anteriorly shortly after meeting lateral part of posterior transverse carina. Combined area superomedia and area petiolaris open anteriorly. Area postero-externa complete ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ). Spiracle small, circular.
Wings. Fore wing length 3.0 mm, vein 1cu-a interstitial to M&RS, inclivous, postero-distal corner of subbasal cell ca. 80°, vein 3rs-m absent, vein 2rs-m about 2.5× length of M between 2rs-m and 2m-cu, length of CU between 1m-cu &M and 2cu-a equal to length of 2cu-a. Hind wing with distal abscissa of CU present, length of CU between M and cu-a 4.3× length of cu-a.
Legs. Inner profile of basal portion of fore basitarsus distinctly bent. Hind coxa with distinct punctures. Hind femur 4.0× as long as its maximum width, 0.9× as long as hind tibia length. Hind basitarsus 0.45× as long as tarsus.
Metasoma. T1 2.3× as long as apical width, polished, with sparse punctures medially, posteriorly densely punctate, dorso-lateral carinae present; petiole flat; postpetiole broad; ventrolateral carina weak; spiracle small, round. T2 onwards densely punctate, with setae. T2 broad posteriorly, 1.4× as long as basal width, 0.7× as long as apical width ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ).
Colour. Black with yellow markings. Head black, mandible (except apex), palpi, scape, pedicel and ventral part of F1–F3 yellow, ventral part of F4 onwards yellowish brown. Pronotum, propleuron, anterior 0.3 of mesoscutum, scutellum, tegula, dorso-anterior corner of mesopleuron, and metapleuron yellow, propodeum yellow with median black stripe, medio-posteriorly of pronotum and medio-anterior of mesoscutum with a black mark. Fore and mid legs yellow. Hind leg reddish with black markings. Metasomal tergites reddish with black markings on T1 laterally and posteriorly, T2 onwards each with a black band.
Variations. Male paratypes have fore wing length from 3.0– 3.3 mm.
Female. Unknown.
Comparative notes. This new species differs from P. trifolium by the narrower face (1.3× as wide as high vs. 2.0×), longer postero-ocellar distance (2.2× ocular-ocellar distance vs. 1.5×), longer epicnemial carina (extending to groove below subtegular ridge vs. defined only in ventral portion of mesopleuron), longer sternaulus (reaching hind margin of mesopleuron vs. defined in middle anterior part), longer T1 (2.3× as long as apical width vs. 1.8×), shorter lateromedian longitudinal carina and the coloration of mesosoma. The new species differs from P. melanothoracicus by the shorter postero-ocellar distance (2.2× ocular-ocellar distance vs. 3.2×) and the coloration of mesosoma
Etymology. The species name refers to the type locality, Cat Tien National Park, Dong Nai Province, South Vietnam.
Distribution. Currently known only from lowland evergreen forest in Cat Tien National Park, Dong Nai Province, South Vietnam.
