Fifteen species of this ubiquitous genus are distributed widely in Australia and one undescribed species is illustrated. The soft and extremely convoluted chorion of this Cleora species resembles that of the eggs of the Nearctic boarmiine (sensu Holloway 1994) Paleacrita vernata Peck ( Salkeld 1983) . McFarland (1973) illustrated the eggs of C. displicata Walker with lowmagnification photographs and commented that the female inserts the soft eggs into crevices under loose bark, similar to Ectropis Hübner (see below). These eggs greatly resemble those of the species described below in terms of chorion texture, colour and shape.
