Type material. Syntype MNHN.F.A70975 Saucats ( France), Burdigalian (Early Miocene), illustrated in de Basterot (1825: pl. 3, fig. 4) .

Illustrated material. For comparison with Paratethyan Oxymeris species, we illustrate three specimens of Oxymeris plicaria from Saucats ( France): NHMW 1851/0017/1169, SL: 89.2 mm, MD: 18.9 mm, Saucats ( France), Figs 12A View FIGURE 12 1 –A View FIGURE 1 2 View FIGURE 2 . NHMW 1851/0017/1169, SL: 79.1 mm, MD: 19.4 mm, Saucats ( France), Figs 12C View FIGURE 12 1 –C View FIGURE 1 2 View FIGURE 2 . NHMW 1851/0017/1169, SL: 74.3 mm, MD: 16.8 mm, Saucats ( France), Figs 12B View FIGURE 12 1 –B View FIGURE 1 2 View FIGURE 2 .

Discussion. Only few Oxymeris specimens from the Eggenburgian have been described so far. These specimens are poorly preserved but agree well with Oxymeris plicaria (de Basterot, 1825) from its type region in size and general shape.

Paleoenvironment. Shallow marine, inner neritic (own data, M.H.).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Eggenburgian (Early Miocene): North-Alpine Foreland Basin: Loibersdorf ( Austria) ( Schaffer 1912); Petroşeni Basin: CoruŞ ( Romania) ( Răileanu & Negulescu 1964).
