Oxyligyrus cayennensis Endrödi, 1972: 23 .

Description. Habitus as in Fig. 49 . Length 24.5 mm (♂), 22.0– 24.5 mm (♀). Width 13.0 mm (♂), 12.0– 13.5 mm (♀). Color dark brown ( Fig. 49 ). Head: Frons deeply concave; surface strongly rugose and punctate on apex; vertex nearly smooth, with sparse deep punctures ( Fig. 55 ). Frontoclypeal suture fine; with 2 superficial transverse striae. Eye canthus glabrous. Clypeus strongly rugose and grooved, triangular, apex strongly narrowed, acute and upturned ( Fig. 55 ). Interocular distance equals 2.3–2.5 times the transverse ocular diameter. Antennal club subequal in length to antennomeres 2–7. Mandibles without teeth, curved to slightly bilobed. Pronotum: Surface with deep, small to minute punctures, denser and deeper on base and posterior angles, with a median, transverse line completely smooth behind fovea. Apical tubercle prominent and slightly recurved ( Fig. 51 ). Subapical fovea deep (males) ( Fig. 50 ) to shallow (females), U-shaped, rugose and finely punctate. Scutellum: Surface nearly smooth, with minute, sparse punctures. Elytra: Surface with deep, large, ocellate punctures, some smaller between intervals; pairs of double rows not distinct; sutural striae complete, with contiguous punctures ( Fig. 49 ). Pygidium: Surface strongly punctate, punctures deep, ocellate, evenly dispersed, only slightly denser on base and lateral angles. Surface strongly convex in males, nearly flat in females. Legs: Protibia with 3 long teeth and a small fourth basal tooth; teeth subequally spaced. Protarsus enlarged in males, inner claw with apex incised. Apex of metatibia strongly crenulate; apical margin with 5 acute spinules. Apex of first metatarsomere slightly triangular, expanded. Venter: Prosternal process long, extending to level of procoxae; apex slightly convex, subquadrate, posterior third raised and flat, bordered by long, yellow setae. Parameres: Form elongate, base longitudinally oval; posterior half strongly narrowed; apices slightly dilated ( Figs. 52–53 ). Spiculum gastrale: Base longer than branches, apex broad ( Fig. 54 ).

Diagnosis. This species is similar to O. zoilus but can be differentiated by the flat frons, protarsi enlarged in males, and pronotal apical tubercle longer and recurved. Additionally, the parameres of O. cayennensis are more elongate and strongly contracted apically.

Locality records. ( Fig. 56 ) 6 specimens, 2♂, 4♀. Specimens were seen from MPUJ. Meta (6): Cumaral, Fca. Pavito (4). Puerto Gaitán, Club Los Llaneros (1). Remolinos (1).

Temporal distribution. March (1), October (1), November (4).

Distribution. Previously only known from French Guiana ( Endrödi 1972, 1985), but we record it here from Colombia. The specimens listed represent a NEW COUNTRY RECORD.

Natural history. In Colombia, it was found at 550 m in elevation.

Taxonomic remarks. Dupuis (2010) described O. contractus based on material collected in Peru. Both the external morphology and shape of the parameres are quite similar to those of O. cayennensis .
