Oxychalepus trispinosus ( Pic 1931) Incertae Sedis View in CoL
Chalepus (Xenochalepus) trispinosis Pic 1931: 434 [Holotype: Cayenne (MNHN)].
Chalepus trispinosis Pic. Blackwelder 1946: 728 (faunal list).
Oxychalepus trispinosis (Pic) . Papp 1953: 85 (catalog); Uhmann 1957a: 109 (catalog); Descarpentries & Villiers 1959: 149 (types).
Description. Color: head and antennae black; pronotum and elytra orangish; elytra elytral apex more or less broadly black; abdomen reddish in part; femora at base reddish. Head: small; eyes close together. Antenna: filiform; apical antennomere pointed at apex. Elytron: exterior apical angle with large tooth; punctures rather quadrate. Total length: 7.0 mm. (from Pic 1931).
Remarks. The placement of this species is uncertain. I have not seen any specimen which can be assigned to this species based on the short description nor have I found any material identified to this species. Four requests for a loan of the types from the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle (Paris) (MNHN) went unanswered. Therefore I am treating this species as incertae sedis.
Host plant. Unknown.
Distribution. French Guyana.
