Ourapteryx triangulata Cheng & Han , sp. nov. ( Figs 2 View Figures 1–15 , 21 View Figures 20–27 , 40 View Figures 36–44 )

Description. Head. Antennae filiform in both sexes, greyish brown mixed with white, white at basal 17–20 segments dorsally. Frons and labial palpus reddish brown. Vertex white.

Thorax. Patagia, tegulae, thorax and legs white. Hind tibia not dilated in male, without hair-pencil, both sexes with two pairs of spurs. Forewing length: male 26–32 mm; female 31–38 mm. Forewing with outer margin straight. Hind wing with a short tail, tip acute, shoulder distinct. Wings white. Forewing with short grey streaks on costa, densely near base; antemedial and postmedial lines straight, grey and oblique, former nearer to latter on anal margin than on costa; discal spot linear and grey; submarginal area densely suffused with grey striation; terminal line black, invisible near apex and anal angle; fringes mostly yellowish brown, white near apex and anal angle. Hind wing with discal spot indistinct; medial line grey, almost straight, sometimes slightly curved posteriorly, not extending to costa and anal margin; grey striation present near submarginal area; terminal line black, invisible near shoulder and tip of tail; fringes mostly reddish brown, white near shoulder, tip of tail and anal angle; tail with two spots at base, anterior dark red, edged with black scales, posterior with similar colour but much smaller, sometimes represented by a black dash or invisible. Underside white, transverse lines faintly indicated. Forewing with R 1 and R 2 coincident.

Abdomen. Abdomen white without setal comb on third sternite.

Male genitalia. Uncus long with acute apex. Socii small and membranous. Gnathos with median process broad and short, rounded terminally. Valva simple, rounded apically; costa straight. Furca developed on right side, stout and long, reaching base of uncus, strongly curved to C shaped, terminating with a row of thorns. Saccus rounded and short. Aedeagus cylindrical; vesica with a long oval sclerotized plate densely covered with numerous short cornuti, all of similar size.

Female genitalia. Lamella postvaginalis almost triangular, rounded at apex, with a triangular ridge centrally, lamella antevaginalis short band-like with a semicircular ridge centrally. Colliculum present. Ductus bursae shorter than corpus bursae, weakly sclerotized and ribbed. Corpus bursae oval, bearing a signum; signum large, rounded with many marginal spines, disc small and rounded.

Diagnosis. The species can be distinguished by the reddish brown frons. In the male genitalia, the furca is very stout and strongly curved to C shaped; in the female genitalia, a small ridge is present respectively in the middle of the lamella postvaginalis and the lamella antevaginalis.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin word triangulatus, which means triangular. This refers to the triangular ridge of the lamella postvaginalis of the female genitalia.
