O. bucephali Dronen & Blend, 2007 View in CoL
Type host. Common goldeneye, Bucephala clangula (Linnaeus) ( Anseriformes : Anatidae ). Type locality. Galveston, Texas, USA.
Remarks. This species differs from the other species in the genus except Ophthalmophagus magalhaesi Travassos, 1921 and Ophthalmophagus plectopteri Dubois, 1930 because the ovary is contiguous or located in close proximity to the posterior testis rather than being some distance posterior to it. Ophthalmophagus bucephali also is unusual for members of this genus by having the cirrus sac extending posteriorly to or beyond the posterior margin of the intestinal bifurcation, a feature shared only with O. magalhaesi . No oral or ventral sucker present— Dronen & Blend (2007).
