Range: — Costa Rica, Panama; northern South America to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP) and Brazil.

Ecology: —Locally fairly common; epiphytic, less commonly on the ground or on fallen logs, in humid forests; to 1800 m.

Notes: —Blade shape varies considerably, from basally attenuate to broadly rounded and apically from acute to caudate. Oleandra costaricensis Maxon , from Costa Rica to Ecuador, is probably synonymous.
