Dallas (1851) was the first reviser and synonymized three of Westwood’s species ( frontalis , capicola and lata ), choosing capicola as the valid name even though frontali s had page priority ( ICNZ 1999, Articles 24a and 24b).
Diagnosis. Thorax: ostiolar ruga long, but shorter than in N. orbiculata , anterior margin curved, apex pointed ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3. A 1 – 2. N D View FIGURE 3 ). Abdomen: urosternites with black maculae, diameter shorter than spiracles, as in N. orbiculata . Male: ventral rim of pygophore with brims developed towards middle, not continuous at mid line, and forming a deep concavity there ( Fig. 8G View FIGURE 8 ), character exclusive for this species; paramere trilobate, lobes rounded and slightly developed. Female: posterior margins of gonocoxites 8 straight; basal half of laterotergites 9 laterally concave and medially convex ( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 G View FIGURE 16 ); ductus receptaculi, after vesicular area, longer than three times the length of pars intermedialis ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 B View FIGURE 18 ), shared with N. orbiculata and N. soror .
